Connector Launches Review

by Rob Cumiskey on November 27th, 2009

Thursday the 26th of November 2009
Kobra Bar, Leeson Court Hotel, Dublin 2.

Connector decided to create an event based around new business ventures. By using connections made through previous events run by Connector, Conor was able to gather a group of new innovative entrepreneurs and invited them to speak on the night.

These businesses included: Digital Times, Bloggertone, Event Elephant, Style Tonic, Webstrong (relayto), Progressive Productions, Photo Ireland, O’Leary Analytics and finally Jumper Productions.

Each of these businesses had 5 minutes to showcase their ideas, in front of many people in the business community. In following the Connector theme, the speakers were able to network with other organisations in a variety of different areas with the hope of making connections.

Conor decided that it would be of good spirit to support the Mo’vember Charity in aid of Cancer. With numerous kind donations made on the night. Thanks everyone!!!!

Overall, the night was a huge success, new innovative business ideas were shared and many expressed a huge interest in the Connector event.

Check out the event photos on Facebook.

Connector Evening Dublin

by connector on August 16th, 2008

Thanks to all who turned up for the debut Connector Event in 4 Dame Lane Bar in Dublin 2 on Thursday night.

The idea was to introduce some of my friends and contacts to each other over a pint and a chat. An area of particular interest was the web business start ups & web tv ideas for Dublin in the coming months and it was great to see some new friendships and potential partnerships kick off.

First in the door after your truly was Victor and a great help to me in recent years with conman.tv & connector.ie

Also thanks to Martin from Progressive Productions, Alex & Amanda, Brendan & Michael from Crewger, Mark from itison.tv, Paul, Padraig, Anne & Alice. As it was a limited invite, this was a great turnout and I hope to open it up for others who may like to come along in September. Email conor [@] connector.ie for more details.

Connect with Dublin ladies fashion

by connector on July 8th, 2008

I have been known to design and sell T-shirts under my CONMAN label and do like to keep an eye on the fashion industry. Therefore this is a connector video I have been looking forward to seeing and I hope you Dublin fashion victims enjoy it ! Specially for the girls !

The presenter of this web tv show is the beautiful and talented Miriam Matabaro is a model with Assets modelling agency in Dublin. Miriam is great to work with and is also a freelance make up artist. She has worked for many leading photographers & designers including Jovani in New York and is originally from Ballinteer.

She is now working as a Web TV presenter and her debut is here for you to see it here first on connector.ie !! I connected with Miriam through friends and helped her connect with Martin from Progressive Productions to help her with her showreel and this fashion show.

Connector animated logo

by connector on June 13th, 2008

It must be blatently obvious but yes, I do like marketing, branding & logo design. Well to be honest it is easy when I have some talented friends like Victor & Martin and they are the the ones who deserve the credit ! I just give them good direction and they do the rest.

I know they are always interested in praise and more work so why not let me make an introduction or connect yourself via Martin & Victor. Both are Dublin based and well connected nice young fellas in case you need other help with videos & flash animation, original music composition & t-shirt design etc.

As the internet & mobile phones get more and more cluttered with video content, it will be important to have a strong identity so I suggest you should bear that in mind if you plan to use a lots of web video. Also consider sight, sound & motion. Most logos just get as far as sight so miss out on the last two fun bits. The noise and the movement !

I read this inspirational book about 2 years ago and its name is quite clever & a web site well worth checking out … SI SO MO.

Connect with Green students

by connector on June 4th, 2008

I was talking to the ECO-UNESCO team at a recent Green event in the RDS and I was telling them about Bebo & YouTube and how they should use web video & social networking to connect with young Green students around Ireland.

Elaine Nevin, ECO-UNESCO Director, listened & fair play to her as now we have 40 videos going live online from their annual awards in the Mansion House, featuring RTE’s Aidan Power.

This was arranged by connector.ie with help from Progressive Productions in Ranelagh. Thanks also to Fernanda & her team who were very helpful. l will report back soon on some stats and how well these videos perform in terms of YouTube views. Some brand or company should sponsor this next year … it’s a fantastic event.

Connect with yourself …

by connector on May 24th, 2008

I am lucky to start connecting with myself in the last week but I know I have been beaten to it by some more more connected others …

Niall James Holohan from ‘Readers Wives’ is a friend of mine and is, in my opinion, Ireland’s answer to Morrissey. Check out his exquisite lyrics laced with rapier wit… check this song from his just released debut album as filmed by a mutual connection Martin Osborne from Progressive Productions.

In it, Niall realises he has a connection and a strange sort of chemisty with … himself ! Check it out …
