D Light Studios – Connector 'Tribe of the Year 2009' (Shortlisted)

by Conor on November 30th, 2009

As part of Tribes Week, we are featuring all of our shortlisted Tribes on the Connector Blog today. Each of these Tribes have been shortlisted for the Connector Tribe of the Year award. The winner will be announced at Christmas Connector.

D-light Studios were opened in February 2009 by a talented Polish photographer, Agata Stoinska, to be used for professional photography, film and television production, product launches, exhibition space and events. The studios came about initially as a response to the lack of inspiring, practical photographic studios available to rent in Dublin.

As they say themselves:

The flexibility of d-Light Studios is truly unique in the Dublin – our philosophy is to let clients themselves push the boundaries of what is achievable in this space. Uses for the studios include professional photography, film and television production, exhibition space, product launches and events. But really d-Light’s use is limited only by our clients’ imagination. We therefore invite you to arrange a visit and come and see our studios for yourself.

Connector interview with Synth Eastwood

by Frankie on May 5th, 2009

Interview by Frankie Macken

I’ve always maintained that art and music are two of life’s greatest pleasures and once you attend a Synth Eastwood event, you’ll forget any of the others ever existed. I had a chat with Dave Darcy of Synth Eastwood, one of the founding members of a truly unique collective.

What happens when two graphic designers, a nightclub promoter, a sound engineer and an expert in video editing/motion graphics walk into a bar. Quite a bloody lot actually! Describing themselves as a music, art and technology group, Synth Eastwood is Dave Darcy, Carl Twomey, Al Hennington, Charlie Doran and Simon Cullen. These likely lads became mates in college and began setting up a series of small projects, such as creating music to running club nights.

Connect with Bad Characters in the USA

by connector on July 23rd, 2008

I found Ben on Craiglist when in the USA last year and he helped me bring CONMAN NEW YORK to life. He now has a new web site and some other Bad Characters to show you – he is a very talented young film maker and check out hit other bad guys ! CONMAN appears between 15-30 seconds and is the dodgy looking geezer in the hat ! Thanks to Brendan Phelan from Crewger for finding this for me.
