by Nicola OReilly on April 27th, 2010
On the 22nd April 2010 the IIAs Social Media Working Group held an event entitled Audio Video Culture: Behind the scenes of audio & video content online. Conor the current Chair of Social Media Working Group at the IIA was the chariman for this event.
Speakers from RTE, RaboDirect, Channelship, Mason Hayes and Curran, CEUD NDA, Google Ireland and YouTube all spoke at the event and helped to make it a great success. Pictured is Sebastian Missoffe from YouTube in action from Conor at the top table!
There was very positive feedback with most feeling they learned a great deal about audio and video content online.

Connecting with the stunnalicious Dita Von Teese
by Conor on September 26th, 2009
I was at a great lunch reception in Bentleys on St. Stephens Green on Thursday at the launch of Vodafone 360. Why was it so good ? Well the amazingly stunnalicious Dita Von Teese was there along with loads of people I know including my ex-colleagues at Vodafone and bunch of fellow bloggers & tech journalists too. Plus the food was great, location perfect and it was a sunny day in Dublin so thanks to Niall Harbison for the invite & Fred for the great video below.
Pictured is the internationally renowned burlesque star and style icon, Dita von Teese who is surrounded by a 360 degree wall of mirrors. Unfortunately she only seemed to be in the room for a couple of minutes and no attempt seemed to be made to accomodate photo bloggers to get photos of her or with her.
As for the service, it looked great on the touch screen devices it was demonstrated on and it defintely something I’d like to try as my operator O2 don’t have anthing quite like it. In essence, Vodafone 360 is a brand new set of internet services for your mobile and PC which gathers all your friends, communities, entertainment and personal favourites in one place. At its heart Vodafone 360 has the most personal address book available, bringing together all of your contacts from your mobile phone, social networks and other internet accounts.
Speed connnecting
by connector on June 19th, 2008
I was down to check out the quarterly Speed Networking event organised by the Small Firms Association (SFA) this evening. Thanks to Alan for the invite as it is generally reserved for SFA members.
Throughout 2008, the SFA, in partnership with Vodafone, is hosting FREE quarterly Speed-Networking events, which will provide attendees with an amazing opportunity to have a series of 3-minute one-on-one meetings with a wide variety of companies, to begin to build new business contacts.
It allows people to discover in a very short space of time common areas of interest, which can act as a basis for developing ongoing business relationships, be it finding new clients, accessing new audiences or meeting strategic business partners.
Each ‘Meeting’ will last 3 minutes – when the whistle blows you will move to your next opportunity. It was booked out so the people were spared having to hear me tell my story but I did go back later for refreshments.
About 100 people were present and in the short time I was there I met Neal from vbt.ie, Darran from Baseline, Susan Kennedy from Lensmen, Lee from job2do.ie, Daryl from Eden Recruitment, Jimmy from Dara Creative, Federico from Channelship, Donal from Fire and Fintan from Damson who is a friend of my other new Hothouse friend Iarfhlaith.
However the super connectors were Ian Jacksom from BNI & Tricia from TIG who has a networking business. More soon about these last two who deserve more time to describe what they are up to.
