I used to work with Dan Dalton @ Eighty:Twenty until recently and he was a very creative guy with a great love for mucking about with cameras & creating video content. One of his final acts before flying to London to find work was to do this video and send it into Connector for the Canon Connector Digital Video Contest.
This is his interpretation of freecording for Canon & Connector & I really like the way he connects people on the streets of Dublin. Dan will be missed at Connector & we hope to see him back soon ! Remember the closing date is 1st June 2009 so send in your video asap !

Today, Connector is delighted to have the legendary Irish actor Liam Cunningham helping promote the Canon Digital Video Contest on Middday @ TV3, Ian Dempsey on Today FM & with several of the top Irish newspapers. Liam’s career is in overdrive and he is currently working on films including a remake of ‘Clash of the Titans’.
Liam works with some of the top Hollywood stars and has 6 new movies to come out this year ! Well done to Liam who is a big supporter of young digital filmmakers & is very down to earth considering his success. You can watch Liam promote the contest on TV3′s Midday Show if you click here >>

Connector interview with Synth Eastwood

I’ve always maintained that art and music are two of life’s greatest pleasures and once you attend a Synth Eastwood event, you’ll forget any of the others ever existed. I had a chat with Dave Darcy of Synth Eastwood, one of the founding members of a truly unique collective.
What happens when two graphic designers, a nightclub promoter, a sound engineer and an expert in video editing/motion graphics walk into a bar. Quite a bloody lot actually! Describing themselves as a music, art and technology group, Synth Eastwood is Dave Darcy, Carl Twomey, Al Hennington, Charlie Doran and Simon Cullen. These likely lads became mates in college and began setting up a series of small projects, such as creating music to running club nights.

Connector and Canon Consumer Imaging are delighted to announce the launch of Lights, Canon, Action at Connector No.9 on April 23rd in 4 Dame Lane. To celebrate the launch of Canon’s new Legria High Definition range, Canon & Connector have teamed up to run a competition for the chance to win a Canon XH A1, the digital filmmaker’s tool.
Yes, Connector has given our digital video lads and lassies with a chance to win a great prize and even greater respect from your peers !
The competition will be judged by Hollywood actor Liam Cunningham, star of Hunger and The Wind that Shakes The Barley. We’re looking for three minute long short movies based on freecording. Freecording, put simply, is capturing your world in your own unique fashion and from your own perspective.
