Connector Intern Dublin Event featuring Bobby Kerr from Dragons’ Den

There are many intern groups here in Dublin this summer and the interns here at Connector have been hard at work planning an intern event for all them. We wanted to create a night that brought everyone together, is fun, educational, and for a good cause.  Check it out here on Facebook.

The intern event will be benefitting the not-for-profit Barnardos, a local Dublin charity that serves the people of Dublin. The event will be on July 28^th from 6pm – 10pm at The Church. There is a suggested donation of €4 and every cent will go towards Barnardos. The Church has kindly donated a free welcome drink and finger food to all the interns that come and show their support for Barbardos.

We will also have several speakers for the night; a representative from Barnardos to talk about the work that they do, Bobby Kerr an entrepreneur that started the largest coffee company in Ireland, and Neil Leyden from the exciting new Irish global marketing project called Gateway Ireland.

We will be raffling off great prizes as well, including but not limited to a great 3 day trip around Ireland courtesy of Shamrocker Irish Adventures, 1 Bottle of Premium 18 year old Jameson Whiskey and much more!  We hope to see all the interns that are here in Dublin out for this special night of fun, community, and excitement.

You will receive a raffle ticket for every €3 donation or two raffle tickets for €5.

Andrew and Shelsea will be the MCs of the event for the evening and can’t wait to see you all there.

Connecting Italian flavours with a dollop of DCU & Media 2020 …

This week I connected with a bunch of great people and somethat I have not mentioned yet are here for you to check out.  The first photos is the Flavour of Italy team in Pinocchios Ranelagh who treated me to a fantastic Italian meal while we chatted about their great Italian food and travel businesses … grazie! ciao! grazie!

Then I was interviewed by Sheena O’Dowd & Damien O’Ceallaigh as part of their Masters project in New Media in DCU.  And finally at the bottom, I was at the Media 2020 conference at Croke Park where my housemate Ronan Higgins had his head beamed onto the big screen while answering questions about mobile apps.  Coincidentally, speaking about mobiles, apologies for the grainy photos which are a bit iPixelated.

Lots of new connections and lots of new ideas cos you can’t beat having your finger of the pulse! ;-0

Connector No. 18 Review

The Champagne Bar in Ron Black’s on Dawson Street was buzzing with the sounds of new connections being made last Thursday evening as Connector No. 18 brought together dozens of people for a few drinks, a few laughs, and of course  plenty of social networking!  To check out the photos, click here >>

January’s event featured several rounds of speed networking for those interested in making several connections in a short amount of time as well as a few tables of Connect 4 for more casual connecting.  I think there was a record number of business cards exchanged at our eighteenth event!

Connector also raised (money) for Haiti at this free event, which will be donated through Adrian Garry’s trip to Haiti.  And of course thanks to our great volunteers from DIT Event management (1st years) who helped us on the night.

Connector Lunch @ Saba

After last week’s lovely lunch at Little Caeser’s, where we connected with some great people, we’re going back to Saba on Clarendon St, Dublin 2 (where we had some lovely dinner here) for a 1PM lunch this Friday.

Unfortunately we won’t be sponsoring lunch this week, but we’d love you to join us. You will of course be meeting with some great folk from both the online and offline world. In the last few weeks we have had a diverse crowd but quite a few are from Dublin’s fast growing digital scene with people in from Dublin Web Summit, Balcony TV, Facebooth and reps from Truvo & Connector.

Connector Lunch @ Little Caeser's

Connector Lunches moved to Pacino’s Restaurant on Suffolk Street last Friday. We had a great chat over some tasty pizza and pasta after a busy week of Halloween preparations. We continued our Connector Lunches odessey in Little Caeser’s, on Balfe St. this week at 1PM.

As usual we had a  very diverse crowd of friendly and interesting people from the online and offline world who dropped in to make or renew some connections over lunch.  Afterwards we popped into the Westbury for afternoon tea !

Connecting with Fashion Bloggers

Thanks to Annmarie O’Connor from I Blog Fashion for the invite to join the collection of fashion bloggers at their monthly meetup.  This month it was a coffee morning in BT2 in Dundrum and I met a nice new bunch of people and enjoyed some tasty breakfast courtesy of BT2 whose marketing team also popped in to say hello.  Well done to BT2 for supporting these bloggers & thanks for the generous €50 gift voucher for BT2.  Nice ! ;-0

Connector Lunch – Fri 23rd Oct

Connector Lunch No. 4 was on Friday and we went to Sam Sara on Dawson Street which went well with a dozeon of us shooting the breeze over lunch !

Last week’s lunch was in Mangetu & Connector Lunch 1 & 2 were reviewed here.  Next week on Fri 23rd October I propose we go to Cafe en Seine for 1pm.  Any alternative views or suggestions ?  Please comment below-

Connector Lunches connects with Truvo.ie

As you may know, Connector was set up as a social blog about people & communities connecting in Dublin but ended up as a group organising monthly networking events.  These events are normally on the last Thursday evening of the month & have helped many people make new contacts.

Now, one year on, Connector Lunches is a new experiment by Connector aimed at bringing a small group of people together over lunch in Dublin.  Meeting your friends over lunch is nothing new, but these lunches will hopefully offer you the opportunity to make some new personal & professional connections.

So for the next 4 weeks we are going to have weekly Connector Lunches in Dublin and see how we get along.  And the good news is that we have attracted a generous sponsor who are willing to help us share some FREE lunches … hmmm sounds tasty huh ?!!

Truvo.ie, the people who brought us the Golden Pages, came to Connector with a really interesting idea.  Truvo.ie is a site where you can discover some of your city’s best-kept secrets and exchange your local knowledge with like-minded people.  Because when you’ve found something truly great, it’s only right to spread the word.
