Connector Helps Kids Talk to Santa This Year With Cool New App

Connector is delighted to be working with Santa as he tries to reach even more kids, especially those who have been good this year!

Created by Cara Magic, Magic Friends Xmas is a really cool interactive app for adults and kids to have fun together at Christmas. It allows children to talk to Santa and his friends on an iPad or iPhone, where Santa is voiced by a family member as the Puppeteer on a second iPhone or iPad connected to the internet. The kids can also hear different stories and ask Santa what they want for Christmas.

As it was said in Digital Times, by MagicFriends founder and CEO Mike Hennessy  “It has been great fun to watch children talking to our MagicFriends characters, Santa and his friends. The conversations can be hilarious. Children’s imaginations have no limits so you never know the direction they will go”.

Create A Spooky Marketing Campaign For Halloween

As the Connector team is really brave and not frightened by ghosts or zombies, we are the perfect digital agency for you to work with this Halloween.

In our secret laboratory we have a team of highly skilled crazy professors who can help you with concepts, design, videos, games and all your social media requirements.

Last year, we did a spooky ‘Halloween Pumpkin Run’ campaign, where we delivered purple pumpkins filled with sweets to twenty lucky Dublin based agencies. See the photo below. Each and every pumpkin had the connector360 personal touch – hollowed out, painted and filled with treats by our very own minions. A QR code inside led to a special Trick or Treat page with our credentials and a party invitation. What a treat! We think we did a spooktastic job! ;-)

We can create campaigns for you right up until last minute but why not talk to us today about your Halloween campaign! Boo!

You can contact us at team@connector.ie or call us on +353 1 906 0006.

Stano

Sony Mobile presents experimental audio visual show from Stano on Friday night 5th September in Temple Bar

Our client Sony Mobile is proud to present Dublin’s experimental musician STANO Ireland with his new show ‘DECODER’ on Friday night, September 5th. An amazing mix of 3D projection mapping, stunning pictures of Ireland and great experimental music will turn Meeting House Square, Temple Bar into the coolest party in Dublin on Friday night.  All ticket sale proceeds will go to ARC Cancer Support Centre. Judging by last year’s event ‘UNSPOKEN’ which was a great success, this will be a great event not to be missed!

Two 10 metre screens will be the electronic canvas for a cool mix of 3D mapping and amazing impressions of Dublin, resonating with various types of music including classical to electronic.  The event is also the launch of Stano’s new ‘DECODER’ album which is the 11th in his career. When we spoke about the event, Stano said “I’m very excited to bring my Dublin through music and images to a new audience.  Even more than that I want to use this experience as a spotlight and appreciation for the great work ARC does for cancer patients”.

Just like Sony’s Xperia smartphones, Stano’s productions have high definition audio and outstanding imaging features. DECODER is an event that definitely shouldn’t be missed.

Event Details – Friday Sept. 5th, 9.30pm, Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin.

Tickets are available for €10 at www.entertainment.ie. All proceeds will be donated to ARC Cancer Support Centres.

Augmented Reality: Marketing Brought to Life

Augmented Reality: Marketing Brought to Life

Virtual fitting rooms, holiday brochures that come to life before your eyes, glasses that give you real time information about the world around you – until now, these things have only been part of science-fiction movies. Until now. Say hello to augmented reality, a technology which is quite literally changing the world around us and the way marketers target and sell to their customers. Diving into spheres invisible to the human eye and immersing customers in 4D-experiences is quickly becoming the new norm when it comes to digital marketing.

Augmented reality is a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world. When it comes to augmented reality (AR), the name alone makes it seem as though AR is a super niche market which many average, non-tech-obsessed people may not have access to. But most of us already have an augmented reality (AR) device at home – the smartphone – and marketers can actively leverage this to their advantage.

There are now more smartphones than people on the planet and that opens up a lot of opportunities for AR marketing. There are so many applications that can be downloaded for mobile devices that give us the ability to access real time, real world information that otherwise would not be available to us. The most accessible form of AR for marketers to create and customers to consume is any app that uses GPRS and camera recognition to present places or services nearby. Many of these apps also present a ‘buy now” function for products or services as well.

Currently, apps are the most accessible AR technology for marketers, and jumping to AR is much easier than you might think.

Delighting your customers with DOOH

Delighting your customers with DOOH

Digital Out of Home Advertising (DOOH) – is it nothing more than another digital marketing buzzword, or, is it a digital marketers dream? For those who haven’t yet realised the prevailing trend of advertising that engages and connects with customers – it’s probably the former. But for digital junkies who understand its potential, it’s a dream.

DOOH is the use of digital mediums – typically digital LED or LCD screens – by marketers outside of the home to promote their business, service, product or brand. Last year alone consumer exposure to DOOH increased by 7.2% and though it might not seem like a lot, that percentage equates to the average consumer seeing 14 minutes of DOOH advertising every week.

It’s clear just from looking around these days that DOOH is far more prevalent than it once was, with far more digital billboards and interactive advertisements dotted around than ever before. The increase in DOOH has been widely attributed to the boost the medium received through its use at major sporting events, increased use of DOOH in the area of healthcare, political and transit sectors, placement of these advertisements at high traffic intersections in some of the largest, busiest cities in the world and the upturn in the global economy. Given this clear evidence that companies are in fact adopting DOOH as the new norm, as marketers we should trust the prediction that investment in DOOH will have grown 11% by the end of this year.

With the tendency for advertisements moving towards more ‘high tech’, interactive mediums, DOOH seems like a good investment. If you’re not convinced, keep reading on.

Why DOOH?

Simply put – because it’s fun. It gives you the ability to market to people without them fully realising that you’re marketing to them. Over the last twenty years, marketing has evolved to the point where people don’t want to be marketed to – they want to be engaged, included in the conversation and made to feel valuable. DOOH makes this possible. Ultimately, making customers feel engaged with your company is the key to establishing long lasting relationships which lead to business success.

Leveraging social media for customer satisfaction and business success

Leveraging social media for customer satisfaction and business success

Whether you’re a social media newbie or a social media maverick, there’s no denying that if you want a successful company, you’re probably going to need to be on social media in some form. With the advent of that ever elusive, ever popular phrase ‘inbound marketing’, the aim of the game is to now draw your customers in from outside, rather than push messages out to them. When it comes to locating these customers, you can be sure that an ever wider demographic of people, AKA your customers, can be found on social media, so if you’re not on social media, you’re probably missing out. Nearly 80% of companies surveyed by The Harvard Review in 2014 are currently using, or are planning on launching, social media soon. So, when are you starting?

Social media has created a two way channel of communication where customers are not afraid to tell companies what they think of them, but equally, companies have a change to delight and connect with their customer. Here at Connector, we’re always talking about how important it is to tune in to your customers, listen to what they’re saying, what they want from you and learn how to engage with them to build relationships. But today, we want to talk about just how you get started on social media, how to keep up with social media and what you can hope to get out of all your efforts.

Social media sites, in the most formal, textbook definition sense, are websites and applications that enable users to create and share content and participate in social networking i.e chatting with friends, making new connections, sharing opinions, insights or gossip, posting photos, videos and so much more. Social media and the proliferation of social networks has truly exploded since the days of MySpace, and the diversity of social networks that currently exist – such as Tumblr for artists, Vine for videographers, Instagram for photographers, Twitter for political activists and news junkies – is huge, and only increasing every day. The emergence of new networks such as Medium, Snapchat and Pinterest means that marketers now have an even larger array of networks which they could possibly be active on.

So that means you should get stuck in there and start a profile on all the current, trending social media platforms that are out there, right?

Wrong.
