Make Connections in Ireland

Connector@ iia Annual Congress

It was a busy day at the iia Congress today meeting lots of old friends and making many new connections. Some notable new contacts is the Irish head of Facebook, Colm Long (pictured below on stage) with whom I spoke briefly in a real ‘Facebook Connect’ moment.  In the afternoon, myself and the iia Social Media Working Group held 3 workshops entitled ‘Create a Social Media Strategy in 45 Minutes’.

Here is some of the group with Barry Power & his brother of the Barry Power Golfing Academy, pictured with his workshop notes, the basis of his new social media strategy.  In the other 2 workshop groups we helped Salesjobs.ie & Tropical Places start to develop their strategies.  Considering we were not briefed in advance of the 3 case studies to work on and having just 45 minute sessions with about 30+ attendees per session, I think we did very well !

How did we do it ?  Well it was a great team effort from the group (Conor Lynch, Joy Redmond, Matt Matheson, Keith Shirley, Eoin Kennedy & Campbell Scott) chaired by Brendan Hughes from FBD & facilitated by Krishna De who both gave introductory presentations.  Then the team broke into 3 smaller groups for 10 minutes each on Twitter, Blogging & Social Networks and used the simple framework I devised for step by step strategic development.  I call this ‘Connector’s 5C’s for Digital & Social Media Marketing’.

I will check in on Barry soon and see has he been driven on or has he got stuck in the rough ?  Also pictured are Eoin Kennedy & Keith Shirley. Thanks to all who came into the workshops.  More soon >>
