Connector Speakers December / January

Posted in bar/club, business, communities, connectors, events, marketing, media, people by connector on November 19th, 2008

I picked out the speakers for Connector November based on the hope that they would be educational & entertaining. Feedback was that Philip McCartner, Jennifer Maguire, Niall Harbison & Rose Lawless were perfect.

Now how about you choosing who you’d like to see speak ? What subjects would you like covered ?  Please email conor [@] connector.ie or comment on this blog to leave your choice.

I think it would be interesting to see people from “opposite” communities/medias – let’s say eg newspaper journalist – online blogger, politician – anarchist rocker, economist – naturalist, etc… There can be intense polemic discussion and follow-up…

    1) Why a recession is good for business .
What are the positive aspects of the recession from a business point of view?
Strong, adaptive, responsive businesses will survive and go on to become even stronger.
Online is particularly important as it offers better return on investment than almost any other medium – ROI is critical during this period.

    2) The online lessons of the American Presidential race
How Obama was the first nominee to truly use the power of the internet
How he mobilised not just people but also donations

    3) What advertisers really want
A lot of new startups plan on generating revenue from advertising but do they rerally know what advertisers are looking for ?
There are also a lot of media agency people at your event – its always good for those guys to hear what their customers (advertisers are looking )

    4) How to get free PR in Ireland
Again very important for lots of new startups. You know lots of media people – maybe everyone can make some important connections
