Make Connections in Ireland

Connect with the Irish scientific community

Posted in Uncategorized by connector on November 2nd, 2008

Science Week is Ireland’s biggest annual promotion of science to the general public. This year it runs from Sunday November 9th until Sunday November 16th. It is being promoted by a friend Piaras Kelly from Edelman so I hope to make to an event or two and check out the community of people in white coats carrying test tubes ….

The aim of Science Week is to promote the relevance of science, engineering and technology in our everyday lives and to demonstrate the importance of these disciplines to the future development of Irish society and to the economy.

The theme for Science Week Ireland 2008 is ‘Science – Shaping Our World’ which celebrates the International Year of Planet Earth. With this theme in mind we will examine and explore emerging technologies, the latest movements in science and engineering and how we influence our changing environment.

Throughout Science Week, events are scheduled to take place in libraries, schools, college campuses, airports, on-street, in nature reserves, parks and retail outlets, across the length and breadth of the country. Science Week targets children, secondary school students, parents, teachers and anyone who may be interested in science and its applications.
