On Saturday last, there was a full day event for current & future Irish bloggers with a special focus on ‘Social Activism’. It was called ‘Organise, Activate, Influence’ – Social Activism Online in Ireland. There was a good crowd of 40 or so people before I left prior to lunch and it was very well organised by Phillippe Carr.
And it was good to meet the high king of Irish blogging, Damien Mulley. Respect. This is yet another online / offline community brought to you by connector.ie and more soon … !
The European Commission Representation and the European Parliament Office in Ireland were acting as facilitators for this conference. A number of independent bloggers provided guidance on what they would like to discuss and who they would like to hear speak.
The conference brought together this community offline and allowed a free exchange of ideas. Various keynote speakers from Ireland, Europe and the US were invited to address the conference. Smaller workshops discussed themes such as good reporting and legal protection for bloggers. An important part of the conference was to give bloggers an opportunity to network.
