Connecting with Irish bloggers in Kilkenny

Posted in business, communities, connectors, designers, marketing, media, travel, web sites, web tech by connector on September 28th, 2008

This weekend I was in the lovely Kilkenny City, the social media capital of Ireland for the weekend.  My big thing in 2008 is bring my online work offline and this was a perfect example of combining social networking with a social outing.

I spent Saturday afternoon at Pod Camp Ireland and was very impressed with the set up – lots to hear and it was very easy to move between meeting rooms and theedifferent presentations & discussions. We even had the controversial Junior Minister at Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mr John McGuinness there speaking about conversations.

Another great reason to attend was to meet some of the bloggers I have been reading and some I had yet to discover.

I’d like to profile each person individually and will do when time allows – so in the meantime, with the height of respect for these cool Kilkenny connections ;-) it was great to meet on old college friend Joy from Flexitimers.com, my ex-Vodafone colleague Darragh Doyle, the impressive Sabrina Dent, the legendary Krishna De & Bernie Goldbach & Mr. Social Radio Brian Greene, the irrepressible Grannymar & serial social entrepreneur Ken McGuire.

New people I also met were Mark Nagurski, Mary Nolan, the ‘totes’ unevil Martha from Microsoft with whom I had a few tasty Kilkenny beers and not forgetting Brendan, Katherina, Gabriela, Justin!

Hi to you all and hope to see you again soon at the Irish Web Awards.

Nice to catch up with you and to read your thoughts on the Podcamp Ireland weekend. One of the problems of the event attracting more than 100 people is you can never get around to say “Hi!” to everyone and I really appreciate connecting with you in person on the day. Thanks for coming!

Thanks to Darragh Doyle for tipping me off about the event and getting started in blogging earlier this summer.

It seems a while since a comment was last made, in the meantime Kilkenny looks as good as ever.

If you are interested in spreading the word about how great the city looks – maybe you could link to our moving postcards or ask some one else to do so.

The following is the link code
